Head to Hills of the Lake District this Christmas

So, think Winter, think cosy fireside snugs, think Lake District Christmas breaks. Whether it's for a works party for the night or to an organised Christmas hotel break, the Lake District is the destination of choice for the festive period.

With such a choice of high quality Lake District hotels offering Christmas hotel breaks, it isn't hard to understand why so many people choose to spend their Christmas in the Lake District. What could be better than being able to walk off that Christmas dinner with a walk up one of the many Lake District fells. For those who aren't quite as energetic, purely taking in the spectacular views is an activity in itself.

What Cumbria and the Lake District has that really makes a great Christmas is the high quality local foods and produce. The Lake District has some of the best meat in the country as well as chefs with skill and flair to make the most of it. With the area attracting some of the best chefs in the country, Christmas couldn't be better.

December is party time and a refreshing approach to Christmas parties is holding it at one the hotels in the Lake District. Such venues have been welcomed by groups and companies in the Cumbria region but also further afield who are determined to ensure spirits remain high this Christmas and they are already booking their parties. Sometimes company Christmas party celebrations are combined with team building events and of course, due to the nature of the Lake District, it is the perfect place for both. Companies still want to celebrate, but they are looking for something different and something flexible enough to fit their budgets. This is why the hotels in the Lake District are creating packages from just the themed drinks and food right through to full provided on site entertainment and events.

The Lake District is becoming more and more popular for short breaks in Autumn and Winter with visitors being bowled over by the colours of the landscape and the area being just that little bit quieter, perfect for a weekend getaway. Be lucky enough to visit the Lake District when they're snow on the fells and you are in for a real treat.

Savvy travellers are noticing the great value deals to be had in the winter months. A short break in the Lake District can combine a much needed break with the chance to go canoeing, sailing, walking, mountaineering, fell running, cycling, the list goes on. The most popular, cheapest and most accessible is walking on the hundreds of fells in the Lake District. Wainwright alone walked and wrote about 214 of them but there are many further smaller fells allowing walkers of any age or ability to sample what the English Lake District is famous for.

What a Lake District Christmas break offers visitors is the chance to enjoy all that is great about Christmas without the worry of cooking or organising activities. The hotel will organise activities such a Lake cruise or a torchlight walk for example. To have the opportunity to finish the year off in style, luxury and in complete relaxation is something no one can pass up.
