As many visitors to the UK are aware you have a wide choice of places that you can
visit as day trips and great places that you can spend an entire holiday in. Of these numerous choices you will
find the city of Glasgow to be a good choice. This city which is located in Scotland can be found near the River
Clyde. It is located in Scotland's west central lowlands. You will find this city to be a most pleasant place to
stay during your holiday.
Here in Glasgow you will find that you have access to a number of shops which will provide you with fabulous
shopping opportunities. You can dine in a number of restaurants which will provide you with an interesting array of
dishes to choose from. You will be able to find local Scottish meals alongside other international foods which are
quite popular. There are a number of good hotels and other accommodations that you can stay in while you are in
Glasgow.
While you are visiting here you will find there are a number of great places of interest that you can see. Of these
you may want to check out the Glasgow Cathedral. This cathedral is said to marks the site where Saint Mungo built
his church. Once the church was built the city of Glasgow was established and those who wished to live here found
not just a beautiful place to live but also a lovely place where they could practice their faith in peace.
As you explore this city you will find there are a number of buildings which have unusual looks. These intriguing
looking structures have helped to provide Glasgow with a unique look. Of the many modern buildings that you will
find in Glasgow you should visit the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall where you can listen to fantastic music. Along the
banks of the Clyde River you will have the chance of visiting the Glasgow Science Center as well as the Scottish
Exhibition and Conference Center.
As you look over the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center you will find the Clyde Auditorium to be an
interesting looking building. This structure was designed by Sir Norman Foster. Today you will find this auditorium
is affectionately known as the 'Armadillo'. This is due to the external shape of the building. The overlapping
arched shells which provide the building with its unusual look resembles the outer covering of an Armadillo.
While just looking at the sights to be found in Glasgow will appeal to many people, other visitors may enjoy seeing
the city of Glasgow along with a number of festivals. If this is the case you are in luck as Glasgow holds a number
of these festivals right throughout the year. The festivals that you will find in Glasgow includes the Glasgow
International Comedy Festival, Celtic Connections, the Glasgow International Jazz Festival, the World Pipe Band
Championships, the West End Festival, the Glasgow Film Festival and many others.
As you look at the city of Glasgow in festival times as well as other times of the year you will find a city where
there are plenty of activities to keep everyone fully entertained. The next time you are considering where to go
